Good news for you as monopoly of Google is over with Yahoo India also entering into the domain of OneSearch SMS. This will mean that if you are interested in searching few things on the Internet with the help of Yahoo’s search engine but do not have access to Internet or a GPRS enabled mobile phone, all you will need to do is to send a SMS with the search keywords.
Generally speaking, the results of these search would then be delivered in the inbox of the person sending that SMS. It is worth mentioning in this regard that the service is designed exclusively for mobile phones users and aims to offer the subscribers of this service an any time, anywhere information on their mobile handsets.
At this moment of time, Yahoo OneSearch SMS is available through all major telecom operators in India including Tata Indicom, Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Communications and Idea Cellular.
In my opinion, by offering mobile consumers with instant answers for any search query via SMS, companies are improving the mobile search experience and expanding their service to reach all mobile users in India.
According to sources, Yahoo is also planning to increase its WAP product by coming up with new content clusters such as local business listings and flight status information in the coming year. Point to be noted here is that India is the third biggest mobile market in the world and is growing at a stupendous rate.
No doubt, Yahoo has lost the Internet battle to Google but its OneSearch SMS could possibly provide the thrust that it needs to establish Yahoo in the mobile search market in India. But for that to happen, it is of paramount importance that Yahoo markets OneSearch well.
