With a wealth of $22.9 billion, Liliane Bettencourt is the world's richest woman. Bettencourt has a controlling stake of 27 per cent in L'Oreal since four decades. From what I have gathered, she prefers to be away from public attention. Her main objective is to assist and support projects in the medical and humanitarian areas. Liliane is also the second richest person in France.

Christy Ruth Walton

With a wealth of $19.2 billion, Christy Ruth Walton is the second richest woman in the world. According to Forbes, she is also the world's 26 richest person. Christy Ruth Walton, the wife of late John T Walton inherited his fortune of $15.7 billion after John’s death in a plane crash. Wal-Mart at this moment of time is the world's biggest retailer, with 6,500 stores in 15 countries and 1.8 million employees.

Alice Walton-

Alice Louise Walton, the Wal-Mart heiress is the third richest woman in the world. Daughter of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and Helen Walton, Alice has an estimated net worth of about $19 billion. According to media reports, she was the 20th biggest individual contributor to 527 committees in the US presidential election in 2004. Alice loves art; she once paid $35 million for a painting.
