One of the many blogs we read here is India Retail Biz and while I don’t know the team that runs the site, their news analysis is solid and specific to India retail. When I read their article titled Reliance faces another storm; this time it is Uttrakhand! I was struck by the alarming pattern of anti-free trade practices by a select group of traders. I want to urge our readers to support Reliance (even if you don’t like the company) and notify your government leaders to support free trade in retail. India simply can’t have these incidents take place without a strong reaction from the government. Both farmer and business are aligned in this fight against the anti-free-traders which clearly tells me the fight is just.
According to India Retail Biz: “Earlier in the face of traders’ protests in Uttar Pradesh, the state government had ordered closure of all standalone food and grocery stores run by corporate houses.”
That illustrates the anti-free-trade crowd is not limited in geography because it appeared now in two different areas. Therefore, if the government does not act strongly against them, the message sent to Retailers in and outside of India is stay away because we can’t protect your rights. I was pleased to see a group of farmer’s protesting the anti-free-traders putting pressure on them to stop their violent tactics. Hopefully more farmers will take up the call and stop the ridiculous practice of having farmer’s wait as long as 7 days to sell their food supply to an intermediary. As for the fight, we’ll see if the government ends up being a lion or a mouse.
If you were a farmer, business or consumer which scenario picture would you prefer?

Some great person has said, "You cannot make happy all at a time". The resistance from un-organised sector is very obvious because now they will have to pass-on margin percentage to consumers. Till now these shopkeepers were becming richer day by day and our farmers were not at all benefited. Farmers in India are still very poor and are starving for even basic needs.
These shopkeepers and unorganised wholesalers and suppliers have always caused to disrupt inflation. With the emergence of organised retail, inflation will be checked and,"Aam Janta" as well as our farmers will be benefited. The culprit un-organised sector, which use to charge high from consumers and provide suppliers (including farmers) will definately have to be genuine with all. Their will be no monopoly and this is very important if we want to see India as a developed country.
My sincere appeal from all Indians is to help our country grow and do not follow these ideot political leaders who want all of us to suffer for basic needs like Shelter, food, roads, electricity. It's a matter of shame that, after 60 yrs of independence, these politicians are able to lure us by their statements on Road, eletricity, education and job.
If the politicians are so concern about the development of our nation, why they always obstruct any good change. The reason is quite simple, they want we people to be dependent upon them for these small things. They (politicians) do a bit of work in this direction and we behave like a child and so are always trapped. When the world is paving their way to universe, we have not yet paved our roads to villages.
When everything will be organised, we'll no longer be "mohtaaz" of these politicians. There will be enough roads (as these organised retailers will source from villages, so they will force the system or may contribute to it for making roads), enough electricity, and enough jobs for the deservers. The dynesty system (moms and pops shops) will be suppressed and our thinking will be in line with the developed country (which is necessary for becoming a decoveloped country). We'll no longer get impressed with statements on roads, electricity, water and jobs. Please help Mother India in becoming developed country.
