Review of the Motorola Razr2

By Vipin Agnihotri

No one will argue with the fact that Motorola is the one company who is quite good in advertising their products. If you take a look at the advertisement of their recent offering Motorola V8 Razr2 you will feel the same. But same cannot be said about their products, as they have failed to enthuse buyers for a wide array of reasons. The most prominent one being the poor user interface in Motorola phones.

Taking all this into account, one can safely say that Razr2 is a make or break for Motorola. It is worth mentioning in this regard that the original phone rejuvenated a then dimming star and became the most sought after phone in an otherwise dull market. Although, most of the consumers were of the opinion that phone was not that easy to operate.

The best part about Razr2 is that it has a tremendous form factor and as far as clamshell phones go, it is the best looking phone in the market. Initial signs are that Motorola has worked quite a bit in correcting many of the problems that were a concern on the original Razr.

But the main drawback of Razr2 is its price. Rs 20,000 price point for a 512 MB phone is pushing the limit. Point to be noted here is that the V8 model of Razr2, which is sold in India does not have expandable memory. If I am not mistaken you can get Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson handsets in this price range that are more capable as compared to the Razr2.

The India Street Rating: 7/10
